BULLDOGS TAKE FIFTH AT WEEKEND COCA-COLA INTERCOLLEGIATE CLASSIC
SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Just days after finishing third in the Lonnie Barton Invitational, the Bryant University golf team took fifth in the Coca-Cola Intercollegiate Tournament in Savannah, Ga.
The team finished with a 929 after three rounds of play, good for fifth in the nine-team field. The Bulldogs were led by senior Mike Pyne (Foxboro, Mass.) and freshman Spencer Sweitzer (Lunenburg, Mass.), who finished tied for ninth overall with scores of 228. Senior Jason Thresher (West Suffield, Conn.) ended his tournament right behind the pair, knotting three other golfers for 11th, shooting a three-round 229.
Junior Kyle Hoffman (Pawtucket, R.I.) came in tied for 48th with a score of 244, while Greg Najarian (Rumford, R.I.) and Matt Bernstein (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished 54th and 59th, respectively.
The Bulldogs are now off until the New England Championships, to be played April 9-11, 2010.
