DALEY FINISHES SEVENTH OVERALL AT HARTFORD HAWK INVITATIONAL, LEADS BULLDOGS TO 13TH-PLACE FINISH

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Led by a seventh-place individual finish from senior Alex Daley (Hudson, Mass.), the Bryant University golf team placed 13th at the rain-shortened Hartford Hawk Invitational on Tuesday at the Bull's Bridge Golf Course in South Kent, Conn.

After shooting a team total of 320 in round one on Monday, the Bulldogs improved in the second round with a score of 313, jumping past Holy Cross in the standings to finish with a two-day total of 633.

Daley entered day two of the competition tied for fourth after shooting a 72 on Monday. He followed it up with a 74 in the second round to finish the contest at two over (146).  

Senior Michael Pyne (Foxboro, Mass.) had the greatest turnaround for the Bulldogs as he tied for 51st place. He shot a 75 on Tuesday to improve on his first round score by ten strokes for a 160 two-round total.

Kyle Hoffman (Pawtucket, R.I.), Grant Certuse (Mansfield, Mass.) and Spencer Sweitzer (Lunenburg, Mass.) rounded out the Bryant lineup. The trio finished tied for 60, 64 and 69 with scores of 164, 165 and 166, respectively.       

St. John's bested the 15-team, 85-golfer field with a score of 585 as the final round of the competition was cut short due to inclement weather. The individual championship was claimed by Hartford's D.J. Lantz who shot a 71 in both rounds for a score of 142.

The Bulldogs return to the course Oct. 2-3 when they take part in the Macdonald Cup at the Yale University Golf Club.
