DALEY TIED FOR FOURTH AFTER DAY 1 OF HARTFORD HAWK INVITATIONAL

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University senior Alex Daley (Hudson, Mass.) shot a 72 to tie him for fourth individually, pacing the Bulldogs to a 14th place standing after the first round of play at the Hartford Hawk Invitational on Monday.

Bryant shot 320 as a unit while Connecticut leads the 15-team, 85-golfer field with an opening round score of 290 entering Tuesday play of the two-day competition at Bull's Bridge Golf Course in South Kent, Conn.   

The Bulldogs have a pair of players tied for 62nd overall as senior Kyle Hoffman (Pawtucket, R.I.) and junior Grant Certuse (Mansfield, Mass.) each shot an 82 in the first round to both rank second on the team.

Seniors Spencer Sweitzer (Lunenburg, Mass.) and Michael Pyne (Foxboro, Mass.) round out the Bulldog unit tied for 84th and 85th, respectively.

Connecticut sits in first place as a team with a score of 290 while Dartmouth is close behind at 291.  

Play will continue on Tuesday morning as the teams finish the second round and roll right into a third stanza to close out the two-day, three-round competition.
