BRYANT GOLF FINISHES 13TH AT MACDONALD CUP

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University golf team took part in the Macdonald Cup over the weekend in New Haven, Connecticut, placing 13th in the 14-team, two-day tournament hosted by Yale University.

St. John's captured the team contest with an overall score of 565, followed by host Yale at 580 and Binghamton at 582. Kevin Josephson of Central Connecticut took home individual honors with a two-round score of 136 to finish at four under par (-4) in the 74-golfer field.  

After shooting a 74 in the first round, senior Mike Pyne (Foxboro, Mass.) shot a season-low round of 71 on the second day to pace the Bulldogs with a weekend score of 145, good for five over par (+5).

Freshman Zach Garbacik (Hadley, Mass.) made his first appearance of the season for the Bulldogs, shooting a 154 to finish tied for 51st overall and second on the team.

Alex Daley (Hudson, Mass.), who was named Northeast Conference Golfer of the Week after a strong performance at the Hartford Hawk Invitational last weekend, tied for 62nd with a score of 158.

Grant Certuse (Mansfield, Mass.) and Kyle Hoffman (Pawtucket, R.I.) rounded out the Bryant competitors to finish at 68th and 70th overall with scores of 161 and 162, respectively.

The Black and Gold return to the course for the Connecticut Cup on Oct. 11-12, hosted by UConn at the Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, Conn.
