Bulldogs finish third at NEIGAs

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Led by four top-22 finishes, the Bryant University golf team finished third overall at the NEIGA Championships this past weekend at Port Captains/Starboard Golf Course in Brewster, Mass.

The Bulldogs shot a +35 as a team, finishing third behind Central Connecticut (+21) and Rhode Island (+24). In total, 37 teams competed in the NEIGA championship field.

Senior Zach Garbacik (South Hadley, Mass.) led the Black and Gold with a 14th-place finish, carding a +8 over the two day event. He posted an even par 72 on day one before completing the tournament with an 80 on Monday. Garbacik was one of only six players to register par or better on day one of the tournament. Sophomores Joe Walp (Portland, Maine) and Kyle Buschmann (East Haddam, Conn.) and freshman Ryan Tombs (Bedford, N.H.) all finished in a tie for 22nd with a +10 over the two days. Walp was two-over on day one and Buschmann responded with a 75 on day two to finish his tournament on a strong note.
