Bryant in 14th after Round 1 of the NCAA Tournament

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bryant University men's golf team finished in 14th place in the Columbia Regional of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday and were paced by Sam Russell (Southborough, Mass) who shot a 77 (+5) after Round 1.

Russell finished the day with 13 pars and tied for 52nd place individually.  Zach Garbacik (South Hadley, Mass.) and Kyle Buschmann (East Haddam, Conn.) carded scores of 78 and 79 respectively, while Joe Walp (Portland, Maine) finished the day with an 82.

Oklahoma State University sits in first place with a team score of 272 (-16) on the day.  Missouri and Virginia round out the top-3 with scores of 281 and 285 respectively.  Individually, Jordan Niebrugge of OSU leads all golfers with 65 (-7) behind seven birdies.

Play resumes tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. at The Club at Old Hawthorne, with the first Bryant golfer teeing off at 9:40 a.m.
