SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior Kyle Buschmann (East Haddam, Conn.) earned a top-25 finish in the one-round Blue Devil Spring Shootout in Durham, N.C., Sunday to lead the Bryant University golf team to a ninth-place team finish.

Buschmann's four-over 76 was good to tie the junior for 23rd in the 80-golfer field, while sophomore Ryan Tombs (New Bedford, N.H.) and junior Joe Walp (Portland, Maine) each carded a 79 to knot for 39th overall. Sophomores McKinley Slade (Saunderstown, R.I.) and John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) both shot 82s on the afternoon, tying for 54th.

As a team, the Bulldogs carded a 316 in the single-round event, topping the likes of Villanova, Navy and Cornell in the 15-team field. Host Duke University won the competition with a three-under 285, beating second-place Coastal Carolina by 10 strokes (295). Alabama State finished third (298) with Elon (299) and Francis Marion (300) rounding out the top-five team finishers.

Duke's Motin Yeung won the individual title with a four-under 68 on his home greens at the Duke Golf Club.

The Bulldogs return to action April 4-5 for the Rhode Island Invitational at Quinnessett Country Club in North Kingston, R.I.
