Bryant ties for sixth overall behind Ryan Tombs's top-10 finish

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Sophomore Ryan Tombs (Bedford, N.H.) carded the Bulldogs' best round of the tournament with a Sunday 73 to finish eighth overall, as the Bryant University golf team tied for sixth in the 16-team field at the Til Duty Is Done Collegiate Invitational April 11-12.

As a team, Bryant shot one stroke (307) better than its first-round score but dropped from third into a tie for sixth overall. Tombs used his second-round 73 to vault himself into the individual top-10 with a two-day 149 (+5), while junior Kyle Buschmann (East Haddam, Conn.) finished two strokes back with a 151 (+7) after carding a Sunday 77 to tie for 14th overall.

Junior Joe Walp (Portland, Maine) equaled his Saturday score of 77 for a two-round 154 (+10) and 21st-place finish, while sophomore John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) and senior Conor McGovern (Darien, Conn.) followed with scores of 161 (+17) and 179 (+35) to finish 52nd and 89th, respectively.

The University of Hartford shot a tournament-best 292 in Sunday action to hold onto the top team spot, and the Hawks also saw the individual champion in its ranks in Will Betts (68-70), who shot a six-under 138.

Host UConn finished second with a two-day score of 600 (+24), with Saint Peter's (605), URI (610) and LIU Brooklyn (611) rounding out the top five team finishers. Binghamton tied the Bulldogs in sixth with two-round totals of 615.

With warmer weather now upon New England, the Bulldogs will be back on the greens Wednesday, April 15 in a matchup against the University of Rhode Island at Quidnessett Country Club in North Kingston, R.I.
