Slade tabbed as NEC Golfer of the Month

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant University golf junior McKinley Slade (Saunderstown, R.I.) has been named the Northeast Conference Golfer of the Month following a stellar October performance, as announced by league officials Thursday.

During the month of October, Slade recorded a pair of top-10 finishes while helping the Bulldogs to back-to-back top-5 team placings. Slade tied for sixth in a deep field of 90 golfers at the Connecticut Cup after carding a one-under 215 over three rounds. The junior's efforts also helped lead the Bulldogs to an overall fifth-place finish.

At the NEIGA Division I Championship Oct. 25-26, Slade had his best performance of the fall, finishing tied for second with a score of 149 in the 36-hole event. The Rhode Island product earned All-New England Team honors as Bryant captured the team title, the first win of the season for the Bulldogs. Slade averaged 72.8 strokes per round on the month.

The Bulldogs have now taken back-to-back NEC Golfer of the Month honors, with senior teammate Kyle Buschmann (East Haddam, Conn.) earning the accolade in September.
