Bryant in fourth place following first day of Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate

SIMSBURY, Conn. – Junior Ryan Brown (Bedford, N.H.) shot a 70 on the opening day of the fall season to lead the Bryant men's golf team to a fourth-place standing following the first day of the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate.

COACH BLANCHARD'S COMMENTS
"Ryan Brown and Connor Henderson led the way today. They both played beautifully. Connor made it look easy - by splitting almost every fairway along with a solid iron game it was an easy round of even par.

Ryan Brown has taken his game to the next level. He is putting extremely well, and with the ability to overpower certain holes and knowing when to lay back, it has given him a great chance to win the tournament standing at two-under and two back of the lead.

Matthew Stafford, John Roberts and Payton Kim all played hard and kept grinding when they didn't have their best. They were able to post scores to keep us in it."

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Brown was even through 12 before birdies on 13, 16 and the par-5 17. The junior went two-under on the back nine to sit in third place entering Sunday.
• Sophomore Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.) carded a 72 Saturday, closing the front nine with birdies on 6, 8 and 9. Henderson stands tied for eighth following the first round.
• Sophomore Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) closed his round with a pair of birdies to shoot 76 (+4).
• Graduate John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) shot a 77, while sophomore Payton Kim (Palatine, Ill.) carded a 78.
