Bryant completes first round of Hartford Hawks Invitational; second round halted due to darkness

SOUTH KENT, Conn. – The Bryant University men's golf team stands in 12th place out of 20 teams through the first round of the Hartford Hawks Invitational, which began Monday.

The Monday schedule called for 36 holes, but the second round was suspended due to darkness and play will resume Tuesday. Second-round scores will be available following the conclusion of the round Tuesday morning.

COACH BLANCHARD'S COMMENTS
"After a shaky start, we finished the first day strong. It was called due to darkness with one hole to play; we are at even par for the second round. We got very solid performances in the afternoon from Ryan Brown at one-under and Matthew Stafford at three-under. I'm looking for us to keep it going tomorrow."

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Bulldogs are 12th with a score of 298 (+10) through the first round, 15 strokes back of team leader UCF.
  • Graduate John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) led the Bulldogs at even par and finished the first round 22nd.
  • Sophomore Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) shot a 74 and is one of 11 golfers tied for 42nd.
  • Sophomore Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.) carded a 75, while junior Ryan Brown (Bedford, N.H.) shot a 77. Freshman Erik MacDonald (Braintree, Mass.) rounded out the scoring with an 82.
  • Sophomore Andrew Warfield (Southborough, Mass.) was also in action, shooting an 83.
