Blanchard announces spring 2019 schedule

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University head men's golf coach Charlie Blanchard has announced the Bulldogs' 2019 spring schedule, a collection of five tournaments to prepare for the Northeast Conference Championship in late April.

"Coming off a nice win in our last tournament of the season, while starting three freshmen and two sophomores, shows the depth we have this year," said Blanchard. "I am looking forward to the guys battling every week for a spot in the lineup. The competition for spots throughout the spring and a challenging schedule will prepare us well for the NEC Championship at the end of April."

Bryant will open the spring season with a host of other NEC teams at the Lonnie Barton Invitational, hosted by LIU Brooklyn March 4-5 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Bulldogs posted a third-place finish at the event in 2017 with Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.) placing 10th.

The Bulldogs will return home to Smithfield for the rest of March before their second tournament, when Bryant travels to the Lehigh Valley for the Abarta Coca-Cola Invitational, hosted by Lafayette March 31 and April 1 at the Steel Club in Hellertown, Pennsylvania. Bryant finished 11th in the tournament a year ago.

Bryant will head to Maryland the following weekend for the Towson Spring Invitational, to be played April 6-7 at Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville, Maryland. Ryan Brown (Bedford, N.H.) led the way for the Bulldogs at the event last season.

A one-day event hosted by Columbia April 13 will follow, as Bryant makes the trip to Montclair, New Jersey, to play at Montclair Golf Course. Bryant will close out that week at Quidnessett Country Club in North Kingstown with the Rhode Island Invitational. Henderson placed ninth at Quidnessett a year ago.

Bryant will return to LPGA International April 26-28 for the Northeast Conference Championship, as the Bulldogs look for their third NEC title since 2014.
