Piersall’s consistency leads Bryant to 11th place finish

SOUTH KENT, Conn. – Junior Nick Piersall (Portland, Conn.) shot another 1-over par Tuesday to lead the Bulldogs to an 11th place finish at the Hartford Hawks Invitational and a Top 25 individual finish at the Bull's Bridge Golf Club.

COACH BLANCHARD'S THOUGHTS:

"I thought we played well the first two rounds, but we let it slip away in Round 3. Round 2 was very encouraging when we had three players right around even with a 71, 72 and 72. Nick Piersall led the way and played very steady. I'm looking for Nick to continue his solid play this week at Dartmouth."

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Piersall was the top scorer and most consistent golfer in the tournament for Bryant, ending the 3-round event with a 2-over par 218 (73-72-72), landing him tied for 22nd place.
  • Sophomore Tyler Hahn (Avon, Conn.) shot the next best for the Bulldogs posting an 8-over par 224 (74-72-78) which put him in a tie for 42nd place overall.
  • Senior Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) carded his tournament best with a 1-under par 71 in the second round, but finished the tournament out with a 12-over par 228 (75-71-82) in a tie for 53rd place.
  • Senior Mario Wilson (Taunton, Mass) and junior Doug Champagne (Bow, N.H.) who played as individuals in the tournament both finished with a 20-over par 236, tying for 75th place. Wilson carded 82-76-78 through the three rounds, while Champagne registered 78-77-81.
  • Freshman Jonah Klaasen (Westlake Village, Calif.) recorded a 21-over par 237 (75-79-83) good for 79th place and senior Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.) finished his three rounds with a 22-over par 238 (80-77-81) in a tie for 80th place as the final Bulldog on the leaderboard.
