Coach Blanchard Announces 2028 Signing Class

Coach Blanchard Announces 2028 Signing Class

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- Bryant Men's Golf head coach Charlie Blanchard is excited to announce the two members of the program's 2028 recruiting class.

Sam Fuentes, Coventry, RI

Fuentes will be coming to Bryant from Coventry High School in RI where he was a 2x All State Golfer.  In his first attempt Sam qualified for the 2023 US Junior Amateur at Daniel Island GC, Charlston, SC.  Sammy played extremely well just missing a spot in match play.  Sam also made match play at the RI State Amateur bowing out in the Round of 16 to current Bulldog Rocco Biafore.  A baseball player turned golfer, Sam quickly became one of the top juniors in the New England Region.  Sam is a threat to win each time he tees it up.  Sam's athletic profile and work ethic affords him tremendous upside to bring his game to the next level.  Fun fact: Sam has competed in National Championships in two different sports.  In addition to this past summer's US Jr Amateur, Sam competed for Coventry Little League in the 2018 Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.  Sam continues to grow as a golfer but possesses tremendous assets and an on-course demeanor that is beyond his years.  He will provide much needed consistency to the lineup.  We are extremely excited to have Sam joining us next year.

Cole Banning, Tolland, CT

Banning is your quintessential Bulldog, rolling up his sleeves and grinding out rounds.  Cole comes to Bryant from Tolland, CT and Northwest Catholic High (West Hartford).  Cole has competed in over 150 junior events with over 30 victories.  Cole had a heralded high school career at Northwest Catholic having won back-to-back CT CIAC Div II Individual State Championships in 2022 and 2023.  Cole opened his 2023 junior campaign by winning the AJGA Preview at Bethpage in May and is ranked 512 in the Rolex AJGA Jr rankings.  Cole qualified for both the Massachusetts Amateur and New England Amateur and hopes to ride his strong play into his final junior campaign in 2024.  Cole is an all-around athlete also competing in varsity Soccer and Baseball at Northwest.  Cole has the game to win at the next level and as he continues to develop into a consistent college golfer, he provides the Bulldogs additional firepower to an already deep lineup.
