Men?s Lacrosse Beats Saint Michael?s on Senior Day
SMITHFIELD, RI – The Bryant University men’s lacrosse team beat Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Michael’s 11-9 in a Senior Day game played at Bulldog Stadium.
With the win, Bryant improves to 7-5 overall and 6-2 in
Norttheast-10 Conference play while Saint Michael’s falls to
7-5 overall and 5-4 in conference.
The first quarter saw Saint Michael’s get on the board
first when Mike Boerma scored his first of five goals off an assist
from Brandon Kobelt just two minutes in. Bryant responded with a
goal a minute later when Andrew Serge (Albany,
NY) scored off an assist from Adam Smith
(Bainbridge Island, WA). The Purple Knights would add one
more in the quarter to take a 2-1 lead.
The second quarter saw the Bulldogs score three goals to make it
4-4 at the half. Smith, Jesse Rose (Port
Jefferson,
NY), and Bryan Molk
(Peabody,
Mass.) would all notch goals for
Bryant.
The third quarter saw a combined 10 goals by both teams with
Bryant scoring six. In the quarter Smith scored two, Rose, Molk,
and Jason Zilewicz
(Longmeadow,
Mass.) added one.
Smith finished the game with three goals and an assist while
Serge added two goals and an assist.
Matt Lovejoy
(Thornton,
PA) and Michael Kennedy
(Port Jefferson,
NY) combined for the win for
Bryant stopping six shots. Jeff Hannon took the loss stopping
17.
Bryant will return to action Monday when they host Pace University
in a Northeast-10 Conference game slated for a 4:00 pm start.
