No. 9 Bulldogs Top Saint Anselm 13-8

MANCHESTER, NH. – Bryant University, ranked ninth nationally in the USILA Division II Poll, outlasted upset-minded Saint Anselm by a score of 13-8 in a Northeast-10 Conference game at SNHU.
With the win, Bryant improves to 2-1 on the season, 1-0 in NE-10 play. Saint Anselm falls to 2-3 overall, 0-2 in the conference.

Bryant never trailed although the Hawks did no make things easy, cutting an early 4-1 deficit to 7-5 by halftime and 11-8 late at the 5:47 mark of the fourth. Bryant seized momentum 27 seconds later as the Bulldogs scored a goal and were immediately awarded an extra man opportunity following an unsportsmanslike penalty on the Hawks. That penalty led to another Bryant goal as the visitors pulled out the win.

Brent Stoothoff (West. Islip, N.Y.) led the visitors with three goals and one assist while Adam Smith (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) two goals, three assists) and Andrew Serge (Albany, N.Y.) two goals, two assists added help.

Saint Anselm was led by Kevin Allwarden) who had a goal, three assists, and four ground balls. Paul Driscoll (Milton, Mass./ Milton) also added three assists.

Matt Lovejoy (Thornton, PA) made two saves in the first half and Michael Kennedy (Port Jefferson, NY) made three in the second for the win. Andrew Roy (Westford, Mass./ Westford) recorded 12 saves in the losing effort.  

Bryant will return to action Saturday, March 26, when they host Northeast-10 Conference foe Pace University. Game time is set for 1:00PM in Smithfield.
