Northeast-10 Announces Men's Lacrosse All-Conference Team

BRYANT'S GARY CROWLEY NAMED FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
Bulldogs Place Five on Men's Lacrosse All-Conference Team

EASTON, MA - Bryant University freshman men's lacrosse standout Gary Crowley (Scituate, MA) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Year in 2008 the league announced this week.  Bryant, the Northeast-10 Conference Champions, placed two players on the first team all-conference list with Jim Long (Durham, NH) and Matt Murnane (Rockville Centre, NY)

Long started all 17 games for the Bulldogs in the midfield this year and enters the NCAA tournament with 19 goals and 12 assists on the season.  Long has four man-up goals and notched the game winner in Bryant's overtime win against Merrimack in the NE-10 semifinals.

Murnane, last year's Freshman of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in 2007, was named first team all-conference after another solid season.  A starter in all 17 games, Murnane tallied 61 ground balls this season. 

Earning Second Team All-Northeast-10 for the Bulldogs were Kevin Hoagland (Glastonbury, CT), Crowley and Andrew Hennessey (Wading River, NY).  Hoagland led the Bulldogs with 43 goals this season and 14 assists this season including four game-winners.  Crowley was third with 22 goals and 11 assists while Hennessey was the best face-off specialist in the league, winning a league-best 115 ground balls and a remarkable 236 face-offs. 

Bryant, 14-3 overall, will face Le Moyne in the NCAA Semifinals May 17 or 18th with the winner to advance to the Division II finals at Gillette Stadium May 25.
