DEFENSEMAN MATT MURNANE NAMED TO 2010 NEILA EAST/WEST ALL-STAR ROSTER

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The accolades continue to pour in for standout defenseman Matt Murnane (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) since the conclusion of a stellar 2010 campaign, as the senior was named to the NEILA Turfer East/West All-Star roster Wednesday afternoon.

Murnane, who has already been named an All-America Honorable Mention by the USILA, was the only Bulldog selected and one of 11 Division I players from throughout New England to earn the all-star nod. They will join top Division II and Division III players Sunday, June 6 at Endicott College for the 4 p.m. exhibition.

Murnane picked up a career-high 70 ground balls and a Northeast Conference-best 42 caused turnovers in his final season donning the Black and Gold, and led the Bulldogs to a 12-5 overall record as the top-ranked defense in the nation, allowing just 6.6 goals per game.

In addition to his All-American accolade, the New York native has been recognized as the 2010 Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Year, an All-NEC First Teamer, an NEILA All-New England selection and was chosen for the USILA/LaxWorld North/South Game.

Murnane graduates from Bryant as the all-time program leader in caused turnovers both in a single season (43) and in a career (110), and is third all-time in career ground balls with 253.
