GREER, HENNESSEY NAMED NEILA ALL-NEW ENGLAND FIRST TEAM SELECTIONS

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Bryant University men's lacrosse standouts Zack Greer (Whitby, Ont.) and Andrew Hennessey (Wading River, N.Y.) have been named to the 2009 Turfer/NEILA All-New England First Team, as chosen by New England coaches and announced Tuesday afternoon.

Greer, a 2009 Tewaaraton Trophy finalist and three-time All-American, led the Bulldogs offensively and is in the nation's top five in goals scored with 42. His 26 assists and 68 points were also good for team bests, while his 4.53 points per game are tops in the nation.

Greer owns the nation's longest points scored streak, collecting at least one point in his last 49 collegiate contests. Greer finishes his career with an NCAA Division I record 248 career goals and ties the DI points scored record with 353 total points.

Greer is joined on the All-New England First Team attack unit by Brown's Thomas Muldoon and UMass's Jim Connolly.

Hennessey, the Bulldogs' junior faceoff specialist, carried his Division II success easily over to Bryant's new home in Division I this season. The owner of the nation's best faceoff winning percentage - his .711 success rate bested the next highest faceoff specialist by .73 - Hennessey took all but 15 of the team's faceoffs this season, winning 248-of-249 to jumpstart the Bulldog offense in their first year of Division I play.

Hennessey is joined on the first team midfield by Harvard's Jason Duboe, Yale's Mike Karwoski, Brown's Brady Williams, Dartmouth's Jim Mullen and UMass's Bobby Hayes.

The Bulldogs enjoyed an impressive 10-5 record in their first season at the DI level and will be eligible for postseason play in 2011.
