Sipperly, Poli named all-tourney picks

Senior Trever Sipperly and sophomore Mason Poli tabbed to 2011 NEC All-Tournament Team

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Despite the Bulldogs' 14-9 loss to regular-season and eventual tournament champ Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md. in the semifinals of the inaugural Northeast Conference Tournament, faceoff specialist Trever Sipperly (Greenwich, N.Y.)and defenseman Mason Poli (Downingtown, Pa.) put forth performances worthy of recognition, as the pair were named to the 2011 all-tournament team.

Sipperly, a fifth-year senior transfer, went an impressive 17-of-24 from the faceoff X in the contest and was named a first team all-conference selection for his .603 success rate on the 2011 season. He added a game-high six ground balls in the outing and was dominant against  second-team pick Ben Trapp.

Poli has had an All-American type season in his sophomore campaign, and the NEC Semifinal against the top-seeded Mountaineers was no exception. Poli scored a pair of goals in the effort on just two shots while picking up a pair of ground balls. Another all-league first team choice, he led the team and the conference with 34 caused turnovers on the year, also picking up an impressive 64 ground balls and scoring eight tallies in 2011.
