Crowley, Roberts named to North Team

Seniors Gary Crowley and Evan Roberts selected to participate in 2011 USILA/LaxWorld North/South Game Friday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Just weeks removed from their final contest as Bulldogs, Bryant University men's lacrosse seniors Gary Crowley (Scituate, Mass.) and Evan Roberts (West Cornwall, Vt.) have one more game to play, as the pair earned a spot on Team North in the 2011 USILA/LaxWorld Division I-II North/South Game, as announced Tuesday afternoon.

The now-graduated midfielders will join standout seniors from across the nation Friday, May 27 at Goucher College in Towson, Md. for the 5:30 p.m. contest.

The 2011 Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Crowley adds this honor to an already long list of accolades this season, including an NEC First Team selection and an NEILA Second-Team All-New England nod. The senior led Bryant to the program's first Division I postseason berth with a team-best 28 goals, while his 35 points were good for second on the team. The starting midfielder netted a trio of man-up goals with four hat tricks and recorded a point in all but two of the Bulldogs' 17 contests.

Crowley scooped up 19 ground balls with nine caused turnovers on the 2011 campaign and was an integral part of the Bryant offense throughout the season and throughout his impressive four-year career. Crowley graduates with 76 career goals, good for sixth all-time, and 104 career points, ranked eighth on the all-time list.

Roberts earns the honor after a stellar senior season that saw the senior rack up 26 points off 13 goals and 13 assists, the latter good for second on the team in 2011. Pulling double duty as part of the Bulldogs' faceoff platoon, Roberts went 31-for-59 from the X while collecting 27 ground balls and tallying a pair of game-winning goals.

The pair are the only representatives from the Northeast Conference selected to play for the North and are two of just four players from the league to be named as participants in Friday's game, joining South Team picks T.C. DiBartolo and Justin Schmidt of Mount St. Mary's.
