MLAX promotes Brodersen to Associate Head Coach

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After helping the Bryant University men's lacrosse team complete one of the greatest seasons in program history, ninth-year head coach Mike Pressler is proud to announce the promotion of Casey Brodersen to the position of Associate Head Coach for the upcoming season.

The move comes in conjunction with the departure of former Associate Head Coach Brad Ross to Ohio State University, where he will take over as the top assistant with the Buckeyes.

Ross and Brodersen have helped guide the Bulldogs to unparalleled success over the past four years, including three-straight Northeast Conference titles, back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances and a trip the NCAA Quarterfinals this season.

"This opportunity is well earned and well deserved for Casey," Pressler said. "His loyalty to me and the players has been second to none over the last four years."

For the second-straight season, the Bulldogs featured one of the best faceoff specialists and one of the top man-down defenses in the nation. Rising senior Kevin Massa (Huntington, N.Y.) was named the school's first-ever First Team All-American this past spring under Brodersen's tutelage, and the Bulldogs' man-down defense – also guided by Brodersen – ranked fourth nationally.

"He has enjoyed great success in all areas and in all of his responsibilities since day one, from the faceoff X to the sub game to team defense and man-down defense," Pressler said. "He's also been an outstanding recruiter along the way."

Pressler's right-hand man and the team's offensive coordinator for the last four years, Ross was announced as Ohio State's new top assistant late last week. A three-time All-American at Duke, Ross came to Bryant in the fall of 2010 and helped the Bulldogs win 46 games over the past four seasons. Under his watch, the Bulldogs averaged over 10 goals per game in each of the last three campaigns. Ross was also responsible for a goalie contingent that featured Third Team All-American and NEC Defensive Player of the Year Gunnar Waldt (Freeland, Md.) in 2014.

"Speaking for our entire program, we want to congratulate Brad on this great opportunity to join the lacrosse staff at Ohio State University," Pressler said. "His offense and his efforts recruiting top-flight student-athletes to Bryant University was much of the reason for our success, especially over the last three years.

"We all want to wish him and his wife, Nicole, all the best in their move to Columbus, Ohio."

With the elevation of Brodersen, the Bulldogs will now begin a national search to fill their assistant coaching void.
