Caracciolo selected as NEC Rookie of the Week

SOMERSET, N.J. – Bryant University men's lacrosse freshman Luke Caracciolo (Centreville, Va.) has been selected as Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for his performance over the weekend, as announced Monday by the conference office.

Caracciolo turned aside 15 Stony Brook shots in a 9-8 defeat to the Seawolves Saturday on Long Island. The freshman goalie held an opponent to single-digit goals for the fourth time in his first five collegiate starts while collecting 15 or more saves for the fourth time.

The Virginia native ranks fifth in the nation with a .592 save percentage and seventh with 14.20 saves per game. Both marks, along with a 9.80 goals-against average, lead the NEC. The weekly award is the third of Caracciolo's freshman campaign, as he earned Rookie of the Week honors Feb. 11 and Defensive Player of the Week recognition Feb. 18.

Bryant returns to action Tuesday when the Bulldogs host Fairfield at noon at Beirne Stadium. Tickets are available by clicking HERE and the game can be seen on NEC Front Row with Mike Mancuso on the call.
