SCOUTING THE STAGS
Fairfield is playing its first game outside the city of Fairfield this season, as the Stags have played four home games and a crosstown contest at Sacred Heart. The Stags have alternated losses and wins throughout the season with victories over Sacred Heart and Siena and defeats to Saint Joseph's, Rutgers and Georgetown.
Dylan Beckwith leads the Fairfield attack with 10 goals and 15 assists while Travis Ford has also chipped in with 10 goals. Teams are 7-for-13 on the man-up against the Stags this season.
THE SERIES
Tuesday marks the fifth all-time meeting between Bryant and Fairfield but first since 2013. The Stags hold a 3-1 advantage in the series.
All four meetings have been decided by two goals or less. Fairfield is one of two CAA members Bryant has faced in the Bulldogs' D1 era. Bryant played Drexel in each of the last eight seasons prior to this year.
LAST TIME OUT: STONY BROOK 9, BRYANT 8
Bryant erased an 8-5 deficit to pull even midway through the fourth quarter, but Stony Brook scored the game-winning goal with 16 seconds to play Saturday on Long Island.
DEFENSE STANDING TALL
Bryant ranks eighth in the nation in scoring defense at 9.00 goals allowed per game. The average leads the NEC.
MAKING HIS MARC
Sophomore Marc O'Rourke (Hingham, Mass.) ranks sixth in the NEC in goals (13), sixth in assists (8) and tied for fifth in points (21) entering the week.
LUKE, NOT LUCK
Freshman goalie Luke Caracciolo (Centreville, Va.) ranks fifth nationally with a .592 save percentage and seventh with 14.20 saves per game. Caracciolo has turned aside 15 or more shots in four of his five starts.
Caracciolo has earned three NEC weekly awards, collecting Rookie of the Week honors for his performances against Bucknell and Stony Brook and Defensive Player of the Week recognition for the win over Providence.
Bryant opens NEC play Saturday at noon when the Bulldogs face Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
