Bryant begins NEC play Saturday at Mount St. Mary's

EMMITSBURG, Md. – The Bryant University men's lacrosse team opens Northeast Conference play Saturday with a trip to Emmitsburg, Maryland, to face Mount St. Mary's.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
Mount St. Mary's is 3-5 on the year with wins over VMI, Richmond and Mercer. The Mountaineers have played four nationally ranked opponents with the win at Richmond and losses to Towson, Georgetown and Johns Hopkins. 

Chris DiPretoro ranks fourth in the NEC with 17 goals on the season and leads the Mountaineers with 22 points. Sam Stephan's 60 ground balls are good for seond in the conference, while he is at .525 on the year on face-offs. The Mount is averaging 9.12 goals per game this season.

THE SERIES
Bryant is 8-3 all-time against Mount St. Mary's with all three Mountaineer victories coming in Emmitsburg.The Bulldogs and Mountaineers are meeting to open NEC play for the third consecutive season. 

Marc O'Rourke (Hingham, Mass.) scored six goals in last season's meeting at the Bryant Track & Turf Complex - a career-high that was matched Tuesday against Fairfield. The Bulldogs won that contest 20-11 on their way to opening NEC play 4-0 a year ago.

LAST TIME OUT: FAIRFIELD 12, BRYANT 11
Bryant erased a three-goal fourth-quarter deficit and took a late lead, but Fairfield tied the game with nine seconds remaining and captured an overtime victory Tuesday at Beirne Stadium. 

SIX FOR SIX
Sophomore Marc O'Rourke scored six goals in Tuesday's game against Fairfield, tied for the third-most by an NEC player this season. O'Rourke's six-goal output matched his career-high set last year against Mount St. Mary's and tied the Bryant Division I single-game mark, which was achieved for the seventh time. 

O'Rourke joins Zack Greer and Tucker James as the only Bulldogs with two six-goal games in the program's Division I era.

LUKE, NOT LUCK
Freshman goalie Luke Caracciolo (Centreville, Va.) ranks sixth nationally with a .582 save percentage and eighth with 14.17 saves per game. Caracciolo has turned aside 14 or more shots in five of his six starts.

Caracciolo has earned three NEC weekly awards, collecting Rookie of the Week honors for his performances against Bucknell and Stony Brook and Defensive Player of the Week recognition for the win over Providence. 

MAKING HIS MARC
Sophomore Marc O'Rourke ranks third in the NEC in goals (19), eighth in assists (8) and fourth in points (27) entering the weekend. 

WEINGARTEN STATE
Junior Trevor Weingarten (Allendale, N.J.) posted a career day offensively Tuesday against Fairfield, recording three goals and two assists. The New Jersey native has scored at least one goal in 19 of his last 21 games dating back to last season. 

HAVE A WEEK, JACK
Redshirt-freshman Jack Aigner (Brighton, Mich.) has put together back-to-back stellar performances at the face-off X, going 16-for-20 at Stony Brook and 19-for-24 against Fairfield. Aigner is 35-for-44 (.795) over his last two contests. 

NEXT UP: SAINT JOSEPH'S
Bryant plays its final March home game when the Bulldogs welcome Saint Joseph's to Beirne Stadium, Saturday, March 23 at noon.
