Caracciolo named NEC Rookie of the Week

SOMERSET, N.J. – Bryant University men's lacrosse freshman Luke Caracciolo (Centreville, Va.) has been selected as the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for his performance Saturday at Wagner, as announced Monday by the NEC office.

Caracciolo made 14 saves in Bryant's 13-4 win over Wagner Saturday on Staten Island. The freshman goalie held the Seahawks scoreless for the final 43:53 of the contest as the Bulldogs closed the game by scoring the final 11 goals, including all eight in the second half. The 14-save effort was Caracciolo's sixth of 14 or more in his first nine collegiate games. Caracciolo leads all freshman goalies nationally in save percentage (.572) and goals-against average (9.51).

The weekly award is Caracciolo's third Rookie of the Week honor and fourth conference accolade overall.

Bryant returns to action Saturday at noon when the Bulldogs host Sacred Heart at Beirne Stadium. The game can be seen on NEC Front Row and tickets can be purchased HERE.
