Bryant welcomes LIU to Beirne Stadium on Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's lacrosse team welcomes Long Island University to Beirne Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the first game of a men's and women's doubleheader. Faceoff is set for 12:00 p.m.

THE SERIES
Bryant and LIU met as Division I opponents for the first time last season. The Bulldogs came away with a 20-17 victory in what turned out to be a historic afternoon on Long Island. Jacob Alexander won a program record 30 faceoffs, tied for the fourth-most in DI program history, and Marc O'Rourke became just the eighth player in school history to score 100 career goals.  

SCOUTING LIU
The Sharks come in at 5-4 overall and 2-0 in NEC play. LIU is coming off a 16-7 victory over Merrimack last weekend and has allowed just seven goals in each of their last two. Richie LaCalandra leads the team with 37 points (18g, 19a), while Blake Behlen has a team-high 20 goals. Will Mark is one of the nation's top goalies, posting a 9.39 GAA and a .582 save percentage.  

BRYANT NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • The Bulldogs are 4-4 overall and 2-0 in the NEC following a 14-11 victory at Hobart last Saturday. 
  • Bryant rallied from down three goals early in the third quarter to defeat the Statesmen. 
  • Bennette Abladian recorded seven points (6g, 1a) to earn a spot on the USILA Team of the Week. He scored four of his six goals in the second half and now has 22 goals on the year. 
  • Marc O'Rourke leads the team with 32 points (23g, 9a). 
  • Logan McGovern registered six points (3g, 3a) at Hobart to reach 100 points in his career. He has 43 goals and 57 assists in 28 career games. 
  • LaJhon Jones and Connor Whalen lead the NEC with 1.375 caused turnovers per game.
