Bryant sweeps America East men's lacrosse weekly honors

BOSTON -- The Bryant University men's lacrosse team swept the America East weekly honors on Monday as Kevin Groeninger, Drew Lucas and Johnny Hackett were all recognized for their performances.

Groeninger was named the America East Player of the Week, while Lucas earned defensive player of the week honors and Hackett picked up his second rookie of the week laurels. The trio helped the Bulldogs defeat Quinnipiac, 19-12, on Saturday.

Groeninger paced the offense with a career-high seven points. He scored a career-high four goals and dished out three assists. Groeninger leads the team with 16 points through the first three games.

Lucas was dominant defensively, posting a career-high nine ground balls and one caused turnover.

Hackett picks up his second weekly honor following a six-goal outburst against the Bobcats. Hackett scored in all four quarters, notching a pair of goals in the first and third.

Bryant returns home this weekend, hosting Manhattan at Beirne Stadium. Faceoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
