Bryant hosts UAlbany Saturday afternoon at Beirne

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's lacrosse team welcomes UAlbany to Beirne Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Faceoff is set for 3:02 p.m.

The Bulldogs and Great Danes will be the second game of a women's and men's lacrosse doubleheader. Bryant is welcoming all area youth lacrosse players and their families to the games.

THE SERIES
Bryant and UAlbany are meeting for the fifth time in program history and the first as conference foes. The two teams met each year from 2012-2015, splitting those four meetings. All four games have been decided by two goals or less, with the Great Danes earning a 10-8 victory in the last meeting between the programs. In that game, UAlbany's Lyle Thompson became the all-time leading scorer in NCAA history. 

SCOUTING UALBANY
UAlbany enters Saturday at 3-5 overall and 2-1 in the America East. The Great Danes faced Syracuse, No. 2 Cornell and No. 4 Maryland during non-conference play. UAlbany is led by Silas Richmond's 21 points (18g, 3a). Jack Pucci and Graydon Hogg each have 13 goals. 

BRYANT NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • The Bulldogs are 7-2 for the first time in program history. The Bulldogs are also 3-0 in America East play following a 16-8 win at NJIT last week. 
  • Bryant has started 3-0 in league play in each of the last two seasons.  
  • Bryant ranks sixth nationally in scoring offense with 15.22 goals per game. The Bulldogs are averaging 17.67 goals per game in league play.
  • Johnny Hackett and Kevin Groeninger are tied for the team lead in points with 36. Hackett has 27 goals and nine assists, while Groeninger has 19 goals and 17 assists.
  • Jack Lonsinger also has 30+ points thanks to 29 goals, while Timmy Hackett (13-16-29) and Aidan Goltz (22-7-29) round out a strong top five.
  • Lonsinger and Johnny Hackett currently ranks 1-2 in the nation in freshmen scoring. 
  • Nathan Laliberte enters Saturday ranked fourth nationally with a .643 faceoff winning percentage. He has won 99-of-154 at the X this season.
  • Drew Lucas and Tanner Alexander are first and second on the team in ground balls (non-faceoff) with 35 and 28, respectively.
