Bryant, Brown meet Tuesday night for Ocean State Cup

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's lacrosse team faces in-state rival Brown on Tuesday night at Beirne Stadium. Faceoff is set for 7:02 p.m.

Tuesday's game will determine the Ocean State Cup champion.

THE SERIES
Bryant is 4-8 all-time against Brown. The Bears have won each of the last two meetings, including a 16-9 win last season in Providence. 

THE OCEAN STATE CUP
Tuesday night will determine the winner of the Ocean State Cup. Both Bryant and Brown earned wins over Providence earlier this year. Bryant has won the Ocean State Cup four times (2011, 2012, 2016, 2021), while Brown has won it seven times (2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2022).

 

SCOUTING BROWN
Brown enters Tuesday at 5-7 overall following a loss to nationally-ranked Cornell. The Bears are led by Devon McLane's 41 points (24g, 17a). Aidan McLane has added a team-high 27 goals and 35 points. Connor Theriault owns a .506 save percentage in goal.

BRYANT NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • The Bulldogs are 9-3 following a 14-10 victory over Binghamton on Saturday at Beirne Stadium. Bryant is 9-3 for the first time since 2021.
  • Bryant ranks fifth nationally in scoring offense with 15.25 goals per game.
  • The Bulldogs have five players with 30+ points, the first time that's happened since 2013-14 (Coach Ross' last season as an assistant). 
  • Kevin Groeninger paces the group with 51 points, while Johnny Hackett (36-9-45), Aidan Goltz (28-13-41), Jack Lonsinger (34-2-36) and Timmy Hackett (17-19-36) all have 30+.
  • Groeninger scored five goals two weeks ago vs UAlbany and matched his career high with seven points (4g, 3a) last week at Vermont.  
  • Lonsinger and Johnny Hackett continue to be two of the top scoring freshmen in all of college lacrosse. Hackett leads all freshman with 36 goals.
  • Nathan Laliberte ranks sixth nationally in faceoff winning percentage at .622. He added two goals and an assist on Saturday and has 13 points (7g, 6a) on the year.
