Men's Lacrosse to open conference play Saturday vs. UMBC

SMITHFIELD, R.I. –  The Bryant University men's lacrosse team will open conference play this weekend when they travel to Baltimore to take on UMBC on Saturday. Faceoff is set for 12:00 p.m.

THE SERIES
This is the 2nd meeting between the Bulldogs and the Retrievers. Bryant got the victory in their first matchup last season; winning on March 18th, 2023 at Beirne Stadium.

SCOUTING THE RETRIEVERS
UMBC comes into this weekend 1-3 on the season and have recently dropped their last two games. Senior attackman Brian Tregoning leads the team in goals for the season with 9. Senior LSM Brendan Higgins leads the defense with 5 caused turnovers and senior Jayson Tingue has served as the team's primary goaltender collecting  41 saves in net.

BRYANT NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • Bryant continues to lead the nation in faceoff win percentage .686 as well as ground balls per game with 39.17.

  • This past week, faceoff specialist Nathan LaLiberte was named to the Watch List for the 2024 Tewaaraton Award. He currently leads the NCAA in individual faceoff win percentage and ground balls per game. 

  • Jack Lonsinger had an outstanding performance last year against UMBC. He led the Black and Gold with 8 points (7g, 1a) in the Bulldog victory. 

  • Scott Einarson took home the America East Rookie of the Week honors this past week after recording 13 saves in his second collegiate game in net. Bryant is currently 2-0 in games with Einarson between the pipes.

  • The Bulldogs saw significant contributions from their underclassmen in their last game against Fairfield as freshmen Patrick Walsh, Tiernan Lathrop, and Dawson Rielly all scored. Rielly recorded 2 goals.

  • Jack Lonsinger (3g, 1a) and Timmy Hackett (3g, 1a) both had hat tricks for Bryant against the Stags last Wednesday.
