Bryant, UMass Lowell meet for Saturday afternoon showdown

SMITHFIELD, R.I. –  The Bryant University men's lacrosse team returns home this weekend to take on America East Conference opponent UMass Lowell on Saturday. Faceoff is set for 3:30 p.m.

THE SERIES
This is the 2nd all-time meeting between the Bulldogs and the Riverhawks. Last season, Bryant got the win on the road by a final score of 20-4.

SCOUTING THE RIVERHAWKS
UMass Lowell comes into this Saturday 0-6 on the year and dropped their first conference match of the season to UAlbany 19-8. Senior attackman Garrett Murphy leads Lowell with 7 goals so far this season. Junior Khairi Sears leads the team with 8 assists and junior defensemen Alexander Chairs leads the defense with 5 caused turnovers. Graduate student Mark Pav has started all six games in net for the Riverhawks;  he is averaging just over 10 saves per game.

BRYANT NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • Three Bryant players recorded hat tricks in last season's victory over the Riverhawks, Johnny Hackett led the team with 4 while Timmy Hackett and Aidan Goltz both had 3.

  • The Bulldogs continue their dominant season at the X as they currently rank second in the nation in faceoff win percentage (674). Bryant's primary faceoff specialist Nathan LaLiberte is second amongst individuals for faceoff win percentage; winning close to 70% of the time.

  • The Black and Gold also remain second in the NCAA in ground balls for game with LaLiberte leading the team with 74.

  • Senior Aidan Goltz posted 5 points  (4g, 1a) in last week's game for Bryant.

  • Johnny Hackett is tied for the conference lead in total goals with 16.

  • Drew Lucas is fifth in the America East in caused turnovers with 12 so far this season.
