Goltz, Groeninger lift Bryant past Binghamton, 17-11, on Saturday

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Bryant University Men's Lacrosse team defeated the Binghamton Bearcats Saturday afternoon by a final score of 17-11. The Bulldogs excelled offensively as Aidan Goltz scored a career high six times and Kevin Groeninger recorded his 6th hat trick of the season.

  • Bryant outscored the Bearcats 4-1 in the third quarter and carried a seven goal lead into the final quarter.

How it Happened

  • Kevin Groeninger got the scoring started in the game after racing around the net to pick up his 23rd goal of the season at 13:57.

  • Binghamton quickly countered as Ethan Insinga would assist Jack Mellen to even the score at 1.

  • Drew Lucas would connect with Groeninger on a long pass across the field to put Bryant back in front.

  • Binghamton would then score consecutive goals to put them ahead 3-2.

  • The Bulldogs would close out the first with goals from Dawson Rielly, Aidan Goltz and Timmy Hackett and lead 5-3.

  • Goltz would get Bryant going in the second after being assisted from Dawson Reilly.

  • In the fourth, Binghamton would battle back with three straight scores including back-to-back goals from Matthew Keegan.

  • Johnny Hackett would find his older brother for the second time in the game and give Bryant a 14-9 lead. 

  • Bryant would go on a 3-2 run the remainder of the fourth. Bryant's final goal of the game came with nine seconds remaining as Kevin Groeninger scored an empty net goal to close out the day.

  • Both teams put up a high volume of shots in the contest. Binghamton narrowly won the margin 51-48.

  • Ground balls were nearly even between the Bulldogs and Bearcats with Bryant winning the margin 31-30.

  • Bryant won the majority of faceoffs as Nathan LaLiberte and Jacob Alexander went a combined 19-31 at the X.

  • The Bulldogs converted on 18-22 clear attempts.
