Bryant to Battle Brown for Ocean State Cup

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's lacrosse team will battle their in-state rival Brown on Tuesday night for a chance to claim their straight Ocean State Cup. Faceoff is set for 7:00 PM.

THE SERIES
This is the 8th all-time meeting between the Bulldogs and Bears. Last season Bryant beat Brown 17-12 at Beirne Stadium to take home the Ocean State Cup. Aidan Goltz posted five goals for the Black and Gold in the victory.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
Despite a 3-9 record to open the year, Brown has found its footing late in the season. The Bears are currently on a two game win streak; picking up crucial conference victories against #13 Princeton and Dartmouth. Aidan McLane is the team's leading scorer this season with 31 points (27g, 4a). Dash Sachs commands the X for the Bears with a .758 win percentage and is 4th in the Ivy League in ground balls with 69. Connor Theriault is Brown's primary goaltender.Through 12 games this season, he has recorded 145 saves and has a .502 save percentage.

BRYANT NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • Aidan Goltz and Scott Einarson enter Tuesday's game fresh off winning weekly awards from the America East Conference. Goltz earned Offensive Player of the Week honors following him posting a career high 6 goals in Bryant's 17-11 victory at Binghamton. Einarson earned his second Rookie of the Week award after he made a career high 17 saves on Saturday.

  • Kevin Groeninger has averaged 4.25 goals per game since returning from injury. He scored 5 on Saturday and is currently one goal behind the team lead with 27.

  • Nathan LaLiberte continues to shine at the X for Bryant. He remains first in the NCAA in faceoff win percentage (.642) and is fifth in ground balls per game (8.75)

  • As a team, the Bulldogs are second in the NCAA in ground balls per game with 38.25, third in face-off win percentage (.611), and fifth in man-down defense (.788).

  • Bryant will be looking to tie their program's longest win streak against Brown at 2 games (Last: 2011-2012).
