Men's Lacrosse to host Merrimack on Senior Day

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's lacrosse team will conclude their regular season on Saturday April 27th when they will play the Merrimack Warriors on Senior Day. Faceoff is set for 12:00 PM.

THE SERIES
This marks the 18th all-time meeting between Bryant and Merrimack and the 4th at the Division I level. Last season Merrimack defeated the Bulldogs 12-9 in North Andover. Aidan Goltz recorded a hat trick in last year's contest for the Black and Gold and Kevin Groeninger had 4 assists. 

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
Merrimack enters Saturday 5-8 overall on the season and are 3-3 in conference play. Leading the charge for the Warriors offense is sophomore Kasey Mongillo who currently leads the team in goals with 26 on the year. At the X, Merrimack has run a platoon of senior Karl Sutter and freshman Connor Stack. Stack has taken the majority of draws so far this season with 187 of which he has won 73. Sutter has won 55 of his 158 faceoffs and leads the two in ground balls with 29. Merrimack has seen two different starting goaltenders in 2024. Senior Henry Vogt has seen the majority of time in the cage with 10 starts this season and made the team's last start against UAlbany. On the year he has recorded 117 saves and has a .490 save percentage. Prior to the UAlbany game, Vogt had been out of the lineup for close to a  month. In his place was redshirt freshman Griffin Caiozzo. Caiozzo has started three games and appeared in five for Merrimack. His numbers for the year include 39 saves and a .448 save percentage.

BRYANT NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • Scott Einarson is fifth in the NCAA in goals against average (8.83).

  • The Bulldogs terrific season at the X continues as the rank third in win percentage entering Saturday (.595)

  • Bryant will be looking to earn their first victory over Merrimack since 2022. Prior to which they had won their last seven matchups dating back to the schools' Division II days.

  • In their last conference game, Aidan Goltz and Kevin Groeninger combined for 11 of the Bulldogs 17 goals.

  • Nathan LaLiberte is third in the NCAA in faceoff win percentage (.629) and sixth in ground balls per game (8.75).

  • The Black and Gold remain Top 5 in the nation in man-down defense.
