Bio

Chris Gabrielli begins his second season as an assistant coach with the Bulldogs in 2023-24.

Gabrielli brings 20 years of collegiate coaching experience, including the last 10 as the head coach at Providence College, to Smithfield.

Gabrielli helped the Black and Gold win the 2023 America East Championship and earn a spot of the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs immediately took on Gabrielli's persona, playing a fast and physical style. Drew Lucas earned All-America East honors as he teamed with Tanner Alexander and Brody Rule to form a strong backline.

Gabrielli posted a 61-81 career record on the sidelines at Providence, helping the Friars qualify for the Big East Tournament on three occasions. He was named New England Coach of the Year in 2013 and the Big East Coach of the Year in 2017. Gabrielli coached 20 All-Big East selections, two Big East Goalies of the Year, two All-Americans and had four players drafted in either the MLL or NLL.

Prior to his time at Providence, Gabrielli spent six years as an assistant at Duke (2007-12). During that six-year period, Gabrielli helped the Blue Devils reach the NCAA Final Four six times, the National Championship Game twice and was a part of Duke's 2010 National Championship Team. Duke also won five ACC Regular-Season titles and four ACC Tournament titles in his six years. The Blue Devils' defense ranked in the top 25 nationally all six years under Gabrielli, while seven players earned a total of 11 All-America honors with Gabrielli's tutelage.
