Men's Soccer Blanks Saint Rose 3-0

Smithfield, RI - Senior co-captain Mike Gargiulo (North Branford, CT) had a goal and assist to lead the Bryant men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Saint Rose Saturday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium.

After missing a few minutes with an apparent leg injury in the first half, Gargiulo re-entered and promptly set up Matthew Brown (South Easton, MA) for the first goal of the match. Gargiulo's pass left Brown open in the middle of the box and he blasted it to the right of Golden Knight goaltender Patrick Whalen for his second of the season.

At 36:47, sophomore Patrick Bedard (East Longfellow, MA) caught Whalen out of his goal as he lobbed a shot from more than 35 yards out into the net for his first collegiate goal.

Gargiulo put the game away in the 80th minute as he fired a shot from just outside the box into the net for his second tally of the year.

Bryant dominated throughout outshooting Saint Rose 14-5.

The Bulldogs, now 3-0 at home this season and 6-2 overall (3-2 NE-10), will host Franklin Pierce in a big conference matchup next Saturday at Bulldog Stadium at 2 p.m. The game can be heard live at bryantbulldogs.com.
