BRYANT MEN'S SOCCER WINS SECOND-STRAIGHT AFTER OVERTIME THRILLER AGAINST ARMY

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Bryant University men's soccer moved to 2-2 on the season after a double overtime goal by sophomore midfielder Angelo Caputi (Guayaquil, Ecuador) in the 105th minute of play against The United States Military Academy Wednesday night.

Army (0-5) started fast out of the gate, registering seven shots to Bryant's two in the first half.  The Bulldogs were able to counter the Army attack with four corner kicks in the first half alone, keeping things at 0-0 going into half.

Both teams came out of the break on the offensive as the Bulldogs recorded five shots in the second period compared to Army's 11.  The Black and Gold stepped up defensively and shutout the Army attack though the first ninety minutes of play.

Victor Tutino (Deer Park, N.Y.) led the Bulldogs defense with four saves in the second half alone. The senior keeper had a season- high six saves and tallied his second shutout of the young season.  The New York native played big in net for the Bulldogs, making several key saves at point blank range to keep the Cadets off the board late in the second half.

Coach Purcell's club was able to force overtime and took advantage of the extra time in which they registered two shots to Army's none.

Midway through the second overtime at the 105th minute, Captui headed the ball to the back of the net after a scramble for possession took place in front of the goalkeeper, giving Bryant a 1-0 victory and its second straight win in 2010.

The Bulldogs saw strong offensive production from junior midfielder Jordan Martin (Bristol, Conn.) who recorded two shots in the outing and fellow teammate Ethan Freidman (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) tallied two shots including one on net. Caputi finished the contest with three shots and his first goal of the 2010 season.

The Bulldogs return to the pitch Sunday September 19th at Stony Brook at 1 p.m.  Bryant fell to Stony Brook in the last meeting 3-0 in 2009, but look to go for its third-straight win after starting the season 0-2.
