SMITHFIELD, R.I. – With non-conference play officially in the books, the Bryant University soccer programs are set to open Northeast Conference action as the Bulldogs host a doubleheader on Friday at the Bryant Turf Complex. The men kick off first against Robert Morris at 1 p.m. and are followed by the women against Fairleigh Dickinson at 4 p.m.

The men's squad wrapped up non-conference play with a record of 2-4, earning wins at Army in double overtime and against Manhattan. The last time out, senior Erik Lekstrom (Worcester, Mass.) knocked in the game-tying goal early in the second half but the Bulldogs couldn't hold on as they fell at New Hampshire, 2-1, in overtime last Wednesday night. Senior keeper Victor Tutino (Deer Park, N.Y.) recorded a season-high 11 saves in the contest.

Robert Morris enters the game with a 4-4 overall record. After a slow start to begin the season 0-4, the Colonials have turned it on as of late, reeling off four consecutive victories following a 2-0 win over Canisius. The Bulldogs last met the Colonials in their last game of 2009 when Bryant ended its season with a thrilling 2-1 double overtime win on the road on a goal scored in the 109th minute by graduate student, Matt Brown.

The Bryant women's squad (2-7-1) wrapped up non-conference play with a 2-0 loss at Manhattan last Friday night. The first half of the season featured a pair of thrilling overtime road wins at NJIT and Saint Peter's and a comeback tie against visiting Holy Cross. Freshman Ari Goldberg (EastBridgewater, Mass.) leads the Bulldogs with two goals, four points, and 13 shots with both tallies coming in clutch situations. Kaitlyn Hinck (Bow, N.H.), Alex Bengston (Andover, Mass.) and Krista Johnstone (Dover, N.H.) have each chipped in with one goal.

Fairleigh Dickinson enters Friday's game in search of its first win of 2010 having lost nine consecutive matches to open the season, including a 1-0 loss to Sacred Heart on Tuesday to open conference play. Bryant and Fairleigh Dickinson battled to a 1-1 tie last season in Teaneck, N.J. as Hinck netted the game-tying goal on a feed from Jennfier Harding (Lancaster, Mass.).
