MEN'S SOCCER SHUTOUT 5-0 AT ST. FRANCIS (N.Y.)

SMITHFIED, R.I. – Nick Baum netted a pair of goals and three other players added solo tallies as the Bryant University men's soccer team fell to Northeast Conference foe St. Francis (N.Y.), 5-0, on the road Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs drop to 2-6-1 on the season and 0-2-1 in the NEC after the physical loss that saw a total of six cards and 34 fouls issued in the game. The Terriers improve to 3-5-1 overall and outshot the visitors 20-7 in the contest. Junior Nicholas Parisi (Holbrook, N.Y.) paced the Bulldogs on offense with two shots, both of which were on target.

Baum opened the scoring early with a goal in the second minute as his shot deflected off the hand of Bryant keeper Victor Tutino (Deer Park, N.Y.) and into the net. Robbie Weir was credited with an assist on the play.

The tandem struck again in the 15th minute when Baum headed in a pass from Weir for the early 2-0 advantage.

The Terriers scored two more times in the first half on goals from Adam Maabdi and Jeverton De Lorenzi. Maabdi returned a rebound at the top of the box to beat Tutino and also assisted on De Lorenzi's goal, sending a cross inside the Bulldog box to setup the tally.

Bryant played St. Francis (NY) tough for most of the second half, surrendering a goal in the 61st minute to John Sallhag, who scored on a feed from James Caicedo and Maabdi for his seventh tally of the season.

The Black and Gold return to Northeast Conference action on Sunday, Oct. 10 when they play host to Long Island at 3:00 p.m.
