FDU drops Bryant, 2-0

TEANECK, N.J. - The Bryant University men's soccer team fell to Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday night, dropping a 2-0 decision at University Stadium.  The Bulldogs fall to 2-12-1 (1-8-0 Northeast Conference), while the Knights move into second place in the NEC standings, improving to 9-3-3 on the year with a 5-1-2 conference mark.

Bryant was outshot by a 19-8 margin on the game, as the Knights were able to dictate most of the pace of the game from their own attacking half.

The Knights scored a goal in each half, starting off with a marker by Jonathan Gonzalez in the 31st minute.  The sophomore took a cross from junior Anthony Moore and knocked the ball in from six yards out to give the home team a 1-0 lead.  Anders Vest-Hansen was also credited with an assist on the play.

In the second half, the Knights doubled the lead in the 54th minute when Jack McVey blasted a shot at the top of the 18 into the left corner of the net.

The second half proved to be much closer for Bryant, as the Bulldogs were outshot 7-5 while mustering two shots on net.  FDU posted a 12-3 shot advantage in the first frame.

Bulldog sophomore George Spanos (Garden City, N.Y.) recorded six saves for the Bulldogs before giving way to senior Chris Bronski (Trumbull, Conn.) in the 61st minute.  FDU netminder Jacob Lissek earned his fourth clean sheet of the season on a three-save effort.

On the offensive end, Bryant was paced by senior Nicholas Parisi (Holbrook, N.Y.) and redshirt-junior David Falcones (Massapeqaua, N.Y.), each of whom registered two shot attempts.

The Bulldogs will conclude the 2011 campaign next Sunday, Nov. 6, when they host Sacred Heart at Bulldog Stadium.  First whistle is set for 1 p.m.
