BULLDOGS FALL, 4-1, TO MOUNT ST. MARY'S FRIDAY AFTERNOON

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's soccer team fell to Mount St. Mary's, 4-1, on the road Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs fall to 3-4-1 overall, 1-2 in the Northeast Conference on the year, while Mount St. Mary's earns their first NEC victory of the season, improving to 1-2 in the conference.

The Mountaineers got off to a strong start and never looked back. Zoncher Dennis notched a penalty kick goal in the seventh minute of the contest to grant the home team an early 1-0 lead.

In the 39th minute, Dennis delivered a ball to teammate Jimmy Ockford who beat Bryant keeper Chris Knuab (Yarmouth, Maine) for the second Mountaineer score of the match.

The home team went on to notch two more goals in the second half, with Mark Plaisance and Matthew Steele each recording their second markers of the season.

The lone Bulldog tally came in the 89th minute of play. Senior Eddie Curry (Massapequa, N.Y.) delivered his first assist of the year to freshman Brett Larocque (Ottawa, Ont.) to get Bryant on the board.

Despite shot attempts between the two squads even at eight and corners in Bryant's favor (6-5), the Bulldogs were unable to notch their first victory of October after a stellar September.

Knaub and Mount St. Mary keeper Peter Steve each registered three saves in the contest.

The Bulldogs will have an opportunity to get back to .500 when they visit Monmouth on Sunday. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
