Bulldogs fall at Lafayette, 2-1

DESPITE LATE PUSH, MEN'S SOCCER FALLS AT LAFAYETTE, 2-1

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's soccer team dropped a tough decision to Lafayette, 2-1, in Easton, Pa., Sunday evening.

After putting up three scores against Lehigh Friday night, the Bulldogs (1-1) were only able to find the back of the net once on Sunday despite four shots on goal. The Leopards improve to 1-0-1 as they remain perfect through two games this season.

Both squads stood scoreless through 25 minutes until Lafayette's Peter Adudato headed in a Bryan White helper to put the home team up, 1-0. For the next 50 minutes the two teams were virtually gridlocked until Chandler Fraser-Pauls found Abudato for his second marker of the match in the 78th minute, doubling the Lafayette advantage.

Just three minutes later, junior midfielder Connor Norat (Wilmington, Del.) headed in his second goal of the 2013 season off an assist from freshman Chris McCormick (Westfield, Mass.), cutting the deficit in half for the Bulldogs.

Despite a valiant push down the stretch by Bryant, Lafayette was able to hold on for the 2-1 victory. Bryant keeper Chris Knaub (Yarmouth, Maine) made five stops in his second start of the year while Nathan McDonald picked up the win after allowing the lone Bulldog score.

Looking forward, the Black and Gold head home for the Ocean State Classic which kicks off Friday at perennial powerhouse Brown. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
