Bulldogs welcome Rider Sunday (1 p.m.)

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Coming off an unbelievable victory over UMass Lowell on Thursday night, the Bryant University men's soccer team will get back after it on Sunday when they welcome Rider to the Bulldog Soccer Complex for a 1 p.m. contest.

The Bulldogs, who enter Sunday's action with a 2-3 overall record, barely escaped with a win on Thursday as sophomore forward Brett Larocque (Ottawa, Ont.) put home his second marker of the night with just eight seconds remaining on the clock. With overtime seemingly imminent, junior defender Shane Murphy (Kennet Square, Pa.) fired a blast toward the Riverhawk goal just in time for Larocque to tip in his second tally of the match with eight seconds remaining in regulation.

Larocque finished the match with a pair of score, while junior midfielder Lucas Guerriero (Pickering, Ont.) added his first goal of the 2013 season as well.

The Broncs head to Smithfield boasting a 2-1 overall record, coming off their first loss of the season, 1-0, to Temple on Wednesday. Christian Flath leads Rider with six points on two goals and two assists, while three others are tied with two points apiece. The two teams last faced off in 2011 in Lawrenceville, N.J., with both teams converting just once for a 1-1 double overtime tie.

The Bulldogs will look to get back to .500 with a huge win over the Broncs on Sunday.
