Bulldogs improve to 1-0 in NEC with win at RMU

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Taking advantage of a true defensive battle, the Bryant University men's soccer team netted the lone goal of the afternoon in 1-0 victory at Robert Morris on Friday.

Despite being outshot, 20-4, junior forward Ryan Kalan (East Norwich, N.Y.) took advantage of a misplay by Robert Morris keeper Joseph Kuta to convert a Marco Addonizio (Lynnfield, Mass.) helper in the 71st minute to propel Bryant to the 1-0 win.

After a rocky start, the Black and Gold have now won two in-a-row to improve to 4-6 overall on the year. More importantly, Bryant opens Northeast Conference play with a 1-0 record for the first time in its Division I program history.

Bryant netminder Chris Knaub (Yarmouth, Maine) picks up his second-straight and third overall shutout of the year, stopping four Colonial chances in the process, while Kuta falls to 5-4-2 overall.

The Black and Gold will look to continue their strong play on Sunday when they showdown with NEC leader Saint Francis U. at 3 p.m.
