Bulldogs pick up tie at LIU Brooklyn

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Despite outshooting their opponents, 22-10, the Bryant University men's soccer team was unable to get a victory, tying LIU Brooklyn, 1-1, Friday afternoon in New York.

Defender Jake Lamar (New Haven, Conn.) continued his stellar sophomore campaign with his third score of the year in the 28th minute off an assist from junior Connor Norat (Wilmington, Del.) to grant Bryant the first half lead.

In the second frame, the Bulldogs had nine shot attempts but were unable to secure the victory, allowing the Blackbirds to net the equalizer in the 80th minute on a Kevin Lockhart-Brice Merwine combination.

In the extra time, the Black and Gold continued to press aggressively, taking six shots compared to LIU's one, but neither team was able to break the 1-1 tie.

Bryant keeper Chris Knaub (Yarmouth, Maine) stopped six shots in his 13th start of the year, while Logan Keys made 11 saves in the tie.

The Bulldogs will look to keep their postseason aspirations alive on Sunday when they visit St. Francis Brooklyn for a huge showdown with the Terriers (1 p.m.)
