Terriers top Bulldogs, 1-0, Sunday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – In a fast and evenly played contest, St. Francis Brooklyn netted the lone goal in the 57th minute to get by the Bryant University men's soccer team, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Sunday's contest was also a big game in terms of Northeast Conference standing as the two teams entered the day separated by just one point. The Bulldogs (5-8-1, 2-2-1 NEC) now find themselves in a tie with LIU Brooklyn for fourth place in the league standings with two games remaining. The Terriers (9-4-1, 3-2) move into third place with the victory.

After playing to a deadlock through the first 56 minutes on Sunday, St. Francis was finally able to find the back of the net. Gabriel Bagot took a feed from Fabian Suele and chipped it over sophomore Chris Knaub (Yarmouth, Maine) for the lone marker of the afternoon.

The Bulldogs were outshot, 14-11, on the afternoon and finished tied with three corner kicks apiece. Sophomore Marco Addonizio (Lynnfield, Mass.) put two shots on target, while Knaub finished with three saves. Jack Binks made three stops to earn the shutout for the Terriers.

Bryant returns to the pitch this Sunday, Nov. 3 when it hosts Fairleigh Dickinson in a crucial NEC match. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
