Six future Bulldogs make up men's soccer Class of 2019

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's soccer program and head coach Seamus Purcell are pleased to announce the addition of the Class of 2019, a group of six future Bulldogs set to take the pitch in the fall of 2015.

Coming off back-to-back Northeast Conference Tournament appearances, including a perfect 5-0-2 league record in 2014, the men's soccer team will look to these six student-athletes to continue solidifying Bryant as one of the top programs in the region.

Ricardo Becerra | M/F | 5-10 | 158 | Southlake, Texas | Carroll

Two year starter for head coach Greg Oglesby at Caroll Senior High School in Southlake, Texas … Helped his team advance to the Bi-District Playoffs as a junior … Also played for club soccer for the Dallas Texans (2014-15), FC Dallas Blue (2013-14), and Odyssey Soccer Club (2012-13) … Member of Hispanic national Honor Society … Active community service volunteer.

Personal: Son of Carlos Becerra and Beatriz Lourido, Ricardo Becerra was born on Dec. 18, 1996 … He has one sister, Gabriella, and one brother, Sebastian.

Derek Blanchette | M | 5-7 | 140 | Hope, R.I. | La Salle

Two-year letter winner as a freshman and sophomore at La Salle Academy in Providence, R.I. … Helped his team to a Division I State Championship as a freshman and a Finals appearance as a sophomore … Played club soccer for Bayside and NE Revolution Academy … Named Second Team All-Division I as a sophomore and 2013 ODP Player of the Year … Trained at the US National Training Centers in New Hampshire and Connecticut in 2010 … Honor student.

Charlie Booth | D | 6-2 | 180 | Concord, Mass. | Concord-Carlisle

Three-year starting defender for the Concord-Carlisle High School Patriots … Helped lead his team to a 20-0-1 record and a Massachusetts State Championship as a senior in 2014 … Earned All-State honors and named Dual County league MVP as a senior … Two-time Eastern Massachusetts All Star as a junior and senior … Named Boston Globe, Boston Herald, and Lowell Sun All-Scholastic as a senior … Played club soccer for the FC Stars under coach Marc Connolly … Honor Roll student.

Personal: Son of Courtland and Reyne Booth, Charlie Rene Booth was born on Jan. 16, 1997 … He has one brother, Dylan.

Mike Faria | M | 5-5 | 130 | West Warwick, R.I. | West Warwick

Played for both West Warwick High School and the New England Revolution Academy Team from 2012-2015 … Helped lead the Wizards to a RIIL Division II Finals appearance as a senior in 2015 … Named Second Team All-State, RIIl DII Player of the Year, All-Tournament Team, and First Team All-Division II as a senior (2015) … Also lettered in basketball as a senior.

Four-year letterwinning midfielder for the Medway High School Mustangs … Helped lead his team to an undefeated season and a Tri-Valley League Championship as a senior in 2014 … Two-time Tri-Valley League All-Star as a junior and senior (2013-14) … Also named an Eastern Massachusetts All-Star as a senior … Played club soccer for NEFC, winning Massachusetts State Cup in 2014 … Member off SADD and the Economics Team.
