Williams secures All-Rookie honors

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Bryant University freshman Ben Williams (Unionville, Ontario) earned Northeast Conference All-Rookie team honors after leading the Bulldogs with 10 points during the 2018 campaign, the league announced at its annual awards banquet on Thursday night at LIU Brooklyn.

Williams scored game-winning goals at Fairleigh Dickinson and Sacred Heart, helping lead Bryant to a 14-point output in conference play this season, allowing them to qualify for the Northeast Conference Men's Soccer Championship for the first time since 2014.

The freshman also added goals against then-No. 11 Fordham and Mount St. Mary's to round out his goal total in 2018. He finished the conference season with seven points in eight conference games, good for tied for seventh in the conference.

He is the first Bulldog to win All-Rookie honors since the award was created in 2015 and just the second Bryant underclassman to win an end-of-season conference award, joining Charlie Booth (Concord, Mass.), who won Second Team All-NEC honors in 2016.

Bryant's postseason journey begins Friday when it takes on second-seeded Saint Francis U at 11 a.m. at LIU Brooklyn's LIU Field.
