Pitarch scores two in Dawgs road victory

NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. -The Bryant University men's soccer team continued their winning form on Thursday night, beating Merrimack 2-0.

The Black and Gold's 3-0 start is their best in recorded program history. The best start previously was a 2-0-1 beginning to the 2006 season.

Coach's comments on the road win…

"Another great result on the road versus a very tough and competitive Merrimack team. They played really well in their first two matches of the season versus very good programs but just fell short. So we knew they'd be up for it tonight in their first game at home. Competitively we needed to match their energy and be sharp as well as focus on some key things we really wanted to improve on from the first to matches."

  • 13th minute - Bryant 1, Merrimack 0 - Pitarch got free on the right side and was able to cut the ball across his defender and slot a left footed shot off the lower part of the left post.
  • 53rd minute - Bryant 2, Merrimack 0 - Junior Jonas Lyshoj pressured the Merrimack defense to force a turnover. The ball fell perfectly to Pitarch who took one touch before finding the lower right corner of the goal.

  • Vicente Valor Martinez and Jonas Lyshoj recorded their first assist of the season and as a Bulldog in the match.
